AI workforce for Media & Publishing Customer Support

AI agents for customer support teams in media

Actionist is an AI automation tool whose agents operate the apps your media support team already uses, from checking each subscriber's billing by hand to an agent drafting the fix.

Media support teams get back the hours lost to paywall tickets, cancellation saves, and delivery claims.

Where you spend your time

Why Media & Publishing Customer Support teams switch

We know how your week actually goes

What matters to you
  • Locked-out readers answered the same day
A subscriber stuck behind the paywall after a card change gets a drafted reply before they give up.
  • A cancel click starts a conversation
Every cancellation request gets a save offer that fits its reason, drafted for your team to approve.
  • Refunds decided with the evidence at hand
Billing history and access logs are laid out per request, so the person deciding never starts from a blank ticket.
  • Missed copies fixed round by round
Print delivery claims are matched to the distributor round, so repeat misses reach the carrier as a pattern, not a pile.
  • Newsletter and app questions answered once
Preference, push, and login questions get the same accurate answer, with the help centre updated when gaps appear.
  • Built around your reader desk
These are examples of what a media support agent can do. Build a custom agent for any reader question you repeat.

And hundreds of other tasks you do manually..

An agent can take a lot off your team's plate. Take a look below to see the time and cost you could save by adding AI agents to your Media & Publishing Customer Support team's day.

The problem

Where the hours go

  • A reader locked out after a card update emails once, waits a day, and the person answering has to open three screens to learn whether they are even subscribed.

An agent checks the subscription and the failed payment, then drafts the access fix or renewal link for the support rep to approve, so the reader hears back while they still care.

  • Cancellation emails arrive with a sentence of anger and no context, and each one gets the same generic reply or none at all, so subscribers leave for reasons a pause would have solved.

An agent reads the reason and the tenure and drafts a save offer that fits, a pause, a discount, or a plan change, leaving your team to approve and send.

  • A refund request or chargeback turns into a scramble for billing history, login logs, and the last reply, usually with a response window ticking.

An agent assembles the evidence pack for each request, so a person decides the refund or the dispute response with everything in front of them.

  • Missed print deliveries come in by email and form all week, and nobody sees that the same three streets in one round keep missing until the claims have piled up.

An agent logs each claim against its distributor round, drafts the reader's apology and credit proposal, and writes the weekly repeat-miss brief for the carrier.

Triggers

Your Agent wakes up Automatically whenever something happens

Your agents watch the apps you already use and act the moment something happens, usually within about a minute, handle it based on your instructions, 24/7.

WhenA reader emails that they are locked outfires within about a minute
The agent automatically

When an access ticket lands, the agent looks up the reader in the billing platform within about a minute, finds whether a payment failed, a plan lapsed, or two accounts need merging, and drafts the fix. A rep reads and approves it, so the reader gets one accurate answer.

Trust & control

You stay in control

An agent that talks about readers' money and access only earns its place if you decide what leaves the building. Actionist keeps your team in charge of every reply, every refund, and every record.

Readers hear from you, not the agent

A paywall fix, a save offer, or a delivery apology is drafted and held for approval. Nothing reaches a subscriber on its own unless you widen that yourself.

Refunds and credits stay with a person

The agent lays out billing history and access logs. Whether to refund, credit, or dispute is always a decision made by someone on your team.

Every change is on the record

Each ticket checked, draft written, and subscription looked up is logged with a time and a screenshot, so you can see exactly what an agent touched.

Subscriber data stays yours

Names, emails, and billing details are encrypted and never used to train any model. Self-host on a VPS if subscriber data must stay on your own infrastructure.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does my media support team need to be technical to use Actionist?
No. You describe the job the way you would brief a new starter on the reader desk, for example check each locked-out reader's billing and draft the fix, and the agent builds it. There is no code and no integration project. If your team can use a helpdesk and a billing dashboard, it can run an agent.
How do I get started with a support agent for our subscribers?
Pick the ticket type that fills your queue, most teams start with paywall access or cancellations, and describe it to a first agent. Run it with every reply held for your approval, read a week of drafts, then add another job. You can also book a free demo to see an agent work on your own tools.
How do I build a custom agent for how our publication handles readers?
The agents on this page are examples, not the limit. Your save offers, credit rules, and distributor arrangements are your own, and you brief a custom agent in plain language, name the apps it uses, and set where it must ask. It follows your policy, so the replies sound like your reader desk.
How quickly can I set up a support agent?
A simple job such as drafting access replies can be running the same day once your helpdesk and billing platform are connected. Jobs with several rules, like cancellation saves, take a few rounds of tuning. Every agent starts in a draft for approval mode, so early mistakes never reach a reader.
Will the agent reply to a subscriber without my team seeing it first?
Not unless you choose that. Replies, save offers, and delivery apologies are drafted and held for approval by default, and your team can approve from Telegram or Slack on a phone. You can widen autonomy for low risk jobs later through Approval Modes, and anything destructive always asks first.
Can the agent issue refunds or cancel subscriptions on its own?
No. It prepares the evidence and drafts the reply, but a person on your team decides every refund, credit, and cancellation. That keeps money decisions with someone accountable, and the agent logs what it gathered and what you chose so the record is clear if a dispute follows.
Our paywall and circulation system have no API. Can an agent still use them?
Yes. Actionist can operate the screen the way a person does, clicking and typing inside the real interface, which reaches billing consoles and circulation databases that offer no integration. Screen automation runs in the cloud, so it keeps working even when your laptop is shut.
Many readers phone our circulation line. Does Actionist handle calls?
No, Actionist does not answer or make phone calls, and it does not listen to audio. It can read call logs and voicemail transcripts produced by a phone app you already use, such as RingCentral, and draft the follow-up for a rep to approve. Email, forms, and helpdesk tickets are where it works.
Where does subscriber data live, and is it used to train AI models?
Tool passwords are held in an encrypted vault, anything the agent learns about your subscribers stays on your own machine, and none of it trains a model. Each ticket it opened is logged with a screenshot. If billing details must stay inside your own network, you can self-host on a VPS.
