MarketingAnalyticsSupportHRFormsEmail Marketing

SurveyMonkey is the world's leading online survey platform — used by teams in every industry to design surveys, distribute them by email or link, and analyse responses in real time. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can trigger downstream actions the moment a survey is completed, send surveys automatically based on CRM events, create and manage contacts, find collectors, and pull response data into the tools your team already uses — all without anyone manually exporting a CSV.

CSAT survey fires the moment a support ticket closes

When a support ticket is resolved in Zendesk or Intercom, the agent finds the CSAT survey, confirms the email collector is open, and sends the survey to the customer's email address within about a minute of resolution. The agent then monitors for the response and, when it arrives with answers, extracts the score and routes it: Promoters get a logged note, Detractors get a ClickUp task assigned to the support manager with the verbatim comment.

What your team gets back — two angles: what you stop doing manually, and what that's worth.

Without Actionist

What you do manually today

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    25 min / week
    Manual post-demo survey sends

Reps remember to open SurveyMonkey after each demo, find the survey, copy the link, and paste it into a follow-up email — usually a day late, sometimes never.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent sends the survey before the rep finishes taking notes

When the demo calendar event ends, the agent finds the survey, confirms the collector is open, and sends it to the prospect's email within about a minute — without the rep touching SurveyMonkey.

  • Marketing
    45 min / week
    Weekly manual response export

The marketing team logs into SurveyMonkey each Thursday, exports response data for each active survey, pastes it into a spreadsheet, and formats a summary — typically taking 45 minutes.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent delivers the analytics digest automatically

Every Thursday at 9 AM the agent fetches summaries for all active surveys and writes the performance table to the analytics sheet — the team opens their planning session with fresh data already waiting.

  • Customer Support
    30 min / week
    Delayed or missed CSAT sends

Support leads batch CSAT sends weekly from a manual export — some customers receive the survey days after their interaction, reducing relevance and response rates.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
Agent fires CSAT within about a minute of ticket resolution

The moment a ticket is marked resolved, the agent sends the CSAT survey to the customer — timing is consistent, response rates are higher, and no manual batching is needed.

  • Human Resources
    20 min / week
    Ad-hoc pulse survey setup

HR manually creates the quarterly pulse survey from scratch, sets up the contact list, and sends reminders when someone notices participation is low — often weeks into the quarter.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent creates and monitors the pulse survey from day one

On the first Monday of the quarter, the agent creates the pulse survey, sets up the collector, and monitors participation weekly — posting reminders to Slack when the rate drops below 60%.

  • Finance
    15 min / week
    Manual subscription usage tracking

Finance has no visibility into SurveyMonkey usage until an overage bill arrives — account admins are asked to pull usage reports manually when renewal time comes around.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
Agent logs plan utilisation every week

Every Monday the agent counts active surveys and contact list sizes, compares them to plan limits, and writes the utilisation rate to the finance sheet — the team sees headroom or risk before it becomes a cost surprise.

  • Operations
    20 min / week
    Stale surveys clog the account

Active surveys with zero responses sit open for months because no one tracks them — they skew completion rate metrics and consume contact list slots on the plan.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
Agent flags and clears stale surveys weekly

Every Monday the agent lists all surveys, finds those with fewer than 5 responses in 30 days, and creates Notion tasks for the owners to review — the account stays clean without anyone manually auditing it.

  • Legal
    30 min / week
    GDPR deletion requests processed manually

Privacy requests sit in an email inbox until the DPO has time to log into SurveyMonkey, find the contact, and delete them — sometimes taking days and creating regulatory risk.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent processes GDPR deletions within about a minute

When a deletion request arrives, the agent finds the contact, removes them from all lists, and logs the confirmation with a timestamp to the compliance tracker — the DPO receives a Slack notification that the job is done.

FAQs

Questions about SurveyMonkey + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to SurveyMonkey?
Go to the Apps tab in Actionist, find SurveyMonkey, and click Connect. Actionist connects via OAuth — a SurveyMonkey login window opens, you authorise access, and the agent gains permission to read and write surveys, contacts, collectors, and responses on your account. Actionist runs a test call to confirm the handshake before any actions run. No API keys to generate or paste.
Do I need a paid SurveyMonkey plan for the triggers to work?
The basic New Response Notification trigger — which fires when a survey is completed and delivers the response ID — works on free and paid SurveyMonkey plans. The New Response Notification With Answers trigger, which delivers the full question-and-answer payload in the trigger payload itself, requires an annual paid SurveyMonkey plan. If you are on a free plan, you can still get answer data by following the notification trigger with a Get Response Details action.
How quickly does Actionist react after someone completes a survey?
Actionist polls SurveyMonkey for new completions roughly every 45 seconds, so the downstream actions — sending a Slack message, creating a ClickUp task, updating a HubSpot deal — happen within about a minute of the respondent hitting Submit. This is not instant, but it is fast enough to feel responsive to respondents and to catch detractor feedback before it goes cold.
Can Actionist send a survey automatically when a deal closes in my CRM?
Yes. Connect both SurveyMonkey and your CRM (HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive, or any other connected app) to Actionist, and the agent can trigger a Send Survey action when a deal stage changes. The agent finds the correct survey by name, finds the right collector, and sends to the contact's email. You configure which survey goes to which deal stage — the agent handles the execution every time, no manual steps required.
What happens to a survey response that scores below a threshold I set?
You define the threshold in the agent's instructions — for example, 'any NPS score below 7' or 'any CSAT rating below 3 out of 5'. When a response arrives with full answers, the agent reads the score from the payload and routes it accordingly: creating a ClickUp task, sending a Slack alert, updating a CRM record, or any combination. High scores can be routed to a testimonial pipeline or simply logged. The routing logic is natural-language instructions, not code.
Can Actionist help me stay GDPR-compliant with SurveyMonkey contacts?
Yes. When a right-to-erasure request arrives through your privacy portal or a form, the agent can find the contact in the SurveyMonkey address book by email and delete them from all contact lists within about a minute of the request. Each deletion is logged with a timestamp to your compliance tracker — Airtable, Notion, or Google Sheets — so you have an auditable record. Actionist does not process deletion requests autonomously by default; you can require a confirmation step before the deletion executes for extra control.
Can the agent send surveys to a custom contact list rather than a fixed email address?
Yes. The Send Survey action works with SurveyMonkey email collectors, which are linked to contact lists in your address book. The agent can add contacts to the right list, find the collector, and send — so the survey goes to any list you maintain in SurveyMonkey. You can also pass individual email addresses directly to the action if you prefer to bypass the contact list entirely for one-off sends.
Can Actionist write SurveyMonkey response data into Google Sheets or Notion automatically?
Yes. The agent can retrieve survey responses and their full answer payloads on a schedule — daily, weekly, or triggered by a new response — and write them to any connected destination: a Google Sheets tab, a Notion database, Airtable, or a CRM custom field. You describe what data you want and where it should go in natural language; the agent handles the API calls and formatting. This replaces the manual CSV export and paste cycle entirely.
