AI workforce for Manufacturing Sales

AI agents for sales teams in manufacturing

Actionist is an AI automation tool whose agents operate the apps your manufacturing sales team already uses, preparing BOM-based quote drafts and dated capacity evidence for your estimator to review.

An RFQ queue full of missing revisions and unconfirmed lead times leaves the estimator chasing evidence instead of pricing.

Where you spend your time

Why Manufacturing Sales teams switch

We know how your week actually goes

What matters to you
  • An RFQ queue ready for estimator review
Scheduled checks gather part numbers, quantities, missing revisions, and the recorded capacity reference.
  • Quotes priced off the BOM, not memory
Material and labor costs come off the current BOM, so a quote reflects today's cost sheet, not last quarter's job.
  • Dates supported by current evidence
Dated supplier confirmations and capacity records help the estimator decide what delivery date to offer.
  • Distributor answers in the review queue
ERP stock and lead-time records support a reply draft that waits for the estimator to approve.
  • A trade-show contact never goes cold
A badge scan or spec-sheet request gets a follow-up drafted the same week, before the show's momentum wears off.
  • Built around your team
These are examples. Build a custom agent for whatever quoting or channel work your estimators repeat every week.

And hundreds of other tasks you do manually..

An agent can take a lot off your team's plate. Take a look below to see the time and cost you could save by adding AI agents to your Manufacturing Sales team's day.

The problem

Where the hours go

  • An RFQ that lands Friday evening sits untouched in the shared inbox until Monday, by which point a competing shop has already replied and the order is likely gone.

Scheduled inbox checks collect new RFQs and their missing inputs into a review queue. The agent prepares a first-reply draft for estimator approval, with any capacity uncertainty clearly marked.

  • Pricing a quote means pulling material and labor costs off the bill of materials by hand, and a stale cost sheet quietly turns a winning quote into a losing job.

An agent drafts quote lines from the approved BOM and dated cost records, flagging missing or conflicting inputs. The estimator checks the calculation and approves the price before sending.

  • A quote promises a delivery date before anyone checks whether the raw material lead time still holds, and the shop finds out it overpromised after the customer already accepted.

The agent collects dated supplier confirmations and flags gaps before the estimator offers a delivery date. Any supplier enquiry is drafted for approval; the estimator owns feasibility and the final promise.

  • A distributor's badge-scan lead or a repeat stock enquiry sits in the CRM for two weeks with no follow-up, and by the time someone notices, the contact has moved on to another supplier.

Scheduled checks collect open quotes and leads past the agreed follow-up interval. The agent drafts a part-specific message and queues it for estimator approval before sending.

Triggers

Your Agent wakes up Automatically whenever something happens

Your agents watch the apps you already use and act the moment something happens, usually within about a minute, handle it based on your instructions, 24/7.

WhenA new RFQ lands in the shared inboxfires within about a minute
The agent automatically

A monitored RFQ can start a check within about a minute. Read the part number, quantity, and target date, gather the recorded capacity reference, and prepare an acknowledgement for estimator approval. Missing inputs remain questions rather than an invented quote.

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    90 min / week
Triaging the RFQ inbox between shop-floor calls

An estimator checks the shared inbox whenever there's a gap between calls, so a weekend RFQ can sit untouched until Monday and a rival shop replies first.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
RFQ evidence and a reply draft in one review queue

A scheduled inbox check matches RFQs to dated capacity information and queues an acknowledgement for estimator approval.

  • Sales
    150 min / week
Pricing a quote off the BOM by hand

An estimator pulls material and labor costs off the bill of materials line by line and types the quote from scratch, hoping the cost sheet hasn't moved since the last similar job.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent drafts the quote priced off today's costs

An agent builds the quote line by line from the current BOM and cost sheet and drafts it into a document for review.

  • Sales
    60 min / week
Confirming supplier lead times before quoting

An estimator calls or emails the raw-material supplier to check the lead time still holds, or skips the check under deadline pressure and hopes it does.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent confirms the lead time before the date is quoted

An agent checks the supplier's lead time and flags any change before a promise date goes into a quote.

  • Sales
    45 min / week
Remembering which quotes have gone quiet

Nobody deliberately owns following up on a quote that's gone five days without a reply, so it just sits until the buyer has already moved on.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
    Scheduled checks prepare quiet-quote follow-ups

An agent tracks every open quote and drafts a warm follow-up referencing the part and price for the estimator's approval.

  • Sales
    75 min / week
Following up on trade-show badge scans

A stack of badge scans gets typed into the CRM whenever someone finds the time after the show, and the ones that take a week to log rarely get a real follow-up at all.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent logs every scan and drafts the next step

An agent logs the week's badge scans into the CRM and drafts a suggested next step for each contact, posted to the sales channel.

Trust & control

You stay in control

An agent reading your BOMs, pricing your quotes, and talking to distributors only earns its place if you stay in control of what goes out under your shop's name. Actionist is built so you see everything it touched and approve anything that reaches a customer or a supplier.

Customer and distributor emails need approval

A quote, a follow-up, or a reply to a distributor's stock question is drafted first and queued for the estimator's sign-off. Nothing goes out under your shop's name on its own unless you widen that autonomy yourself.

Pricing draws from your BOM, never a guess

Material and labor costs come straight from the bill of materials and cost sheet on file, so a quote reflects your real numbers, not an assumption carried over from the last similar job.

Full audit trail of every quote and follow-up

Every quote drafted, every follow-up sent, and every PO logged is recorded in a timestamped trail, so you can see exactly what the agent did, when, and why.

Your BOM, cost, and customer data stays yours

Scope ERP and document access to the parts and quotes needed for the sales task. Check commercial confidentiality obligations and provider data policies before connecting sensitive BOM or costing records.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Nobody on my sales team is technical. How hard is this to actually set up?
You don't need to be technical. You connect your ERP, CRM, and inbox the way you'd log into any of them, tell the agent what an estimator does in plain language, and it starts working. No code, no integration project.
How do I get started?
Bring a redacted RFQ and an approved quote template to a free demo at demo.actionist.ai. Then choose the inbox and ERP records your agent may access. Start with a draft-only task and check the part revision, cost assumptions, and approval step with an estimator.
Can I build a custom agent for something specific to how our shop quotes, not just the examples shown here?
Yes. The RFQ, quote, lead-time, and distributor agents shown are examples, not the limit. You can build a custom agent around any repeatable quoting or channel workflow your estimators own, a specific customer's approval process, a regional pricing rule, or a particular distributor's contract terms.
How quickly can I set Actionist up?
Setup depends on ERP access, the state of the cost sheets, and your quoting rules. Begin with an inbox classification task, check several representative RFQs, and add draft quotes once the estimator is satisfied with the source data and approval controls.
Will it send a quote or an email to a customer or distributor without me seeing it first?
No. Every quote, follow-up, and distributor reply is drafted and held for the estimator's approval before it sends, unless you deliberately widen that autonomy through Approval Modes. Nothing that commits your shop to a price or a date goes out unreviewed.
Our ERP and some distributor portals don't have an API. Can it still work with them?
Yes. Where there's no API, the agent uses computer use to operate the ERP or the portal on the desktop directly, reading and entering data the same way an estimator would with a mouse and keyboard.
How safe is our BOM, cost, and customer data with an AI agent reading our systems?
Use the narrowest practical ERP and inbox access for the quoting task. Review how each model and app provider handles your BOM, cost, and customer records. Running the runtime on your own server does not prevent those providers from receiving data required by a task.
RFQ volume spikes hard around bid season and trade shows. Does the agent keep up?
You can schedule additional checks and prioritise a review queue during bid season. Capacity depends on task complexity, app limits, and the runtime you use. Keep the estimator responsible for rush decisions; the examples do not guarantee a response time or extra shop capacity.
Is this replacing my estimators?
No. The agent handles the triage, pricing math, and chasing that eat an estimator's day. Your team still owns every judgment call, whether to bend on price, how to handle a tricky customer, and when to walk away from a bad deal.
