How does Actionist connect to Certifier?
Go to the Apps tab, find Certifier, and click Connect. Actionist connects via API key — go to Certifier, open Settings, and generate an API key with the permissions you need (read for searches and design listing, write for credential issuance and group management). Paste the key into the Actionist connection screen and the agent runs a test call to confirm the handshake before any actions are taken.
What permissions does the API key need in Certifier?
For read-only operations (searching credentials, listing groups, listing designs) the key needs read scope. For write operations (issuing credentials, creating groups, revoking, sending reminders) it also needs write scope. Most organisations connect with both scopes at once to allow the full range of agent actions. The API key inherits the permissions of the user account that generated it — use a service account if possible so permissions do not change when a team member leaves.
Can Actionist issue certificates automatically when someone finishes a course?
Yes. The most common pattern is: your LMS or spreadsheet records a course completion, the agent picks it up (within about a minute of the trigger firing), matches the completion to the correct Certifier group, and calls Issue Credential. The recipient gets their certificate automatically without anyone logging into Certifier. You can also use Bulk Issue Credentials at the end of a training window to process an entire cohort at once.
How does Actionist handle credential expiry and renewals?
The agent uses a scheduled Search Credentials call to find credentials expiring within a window you define (typically 30 days). For each expiring credential it sends a Send Credential Reminder notification and can create a renewal task in your task manager. On the expiry date, the Credential Expired trigger fires, giving the agent a second opportunity to update records, send a final reminder, or escalate to a compliance officer depending on how you configure the response.
Can the agent issue credentials in draft mode before sending to recipients?
Yes. Set the Issue Credential action's Issue Credential parameter to false to create a draft record. The agent can then post the draft details to a Slack channel or create a review task for a manager to approve before the credential goes live. Once approved, a follow-up instruction triggers the actual issuance. This pattern is useful for high-stakes credentials where a human needs to verify the recipient's name and details before the certificate reaches them.
Does Actionist work with Certifier's MCP server?
Yes. Certifier has an official MCP server that Actionist can connect to for an enhanced integration. The MCP connection is available alongside the standard API key method. If you use the MCP path, the agent connects through Certifier's MCP server, which may expose additional operations or richer credential metadata compared to the base API. Check the Certifier MCP documentation for the capabilities it adds over the standard API.
Can Actionist revoke credentials when an employee leaves or a contract ends?
Yes. When an offboarding event is detected in your HRIS or contract management system, the agent calls Search Credentials to find all active credentials held by that person or organisation, then calls Revoke Credential for each. The revocation is logged to your compliance archive automatically. This ensures no ex-employee or terminated partner holds a valid company-issued credential after their departure or contract end.

Certifier's webhook triggers (Credential Downloaded, Credential Shared, Credential Viewed) fire events that Actionist picks up within about a minute.
