Inbound lead enriched and routed before the rep sees it

When a form submission arrives with a LinkedIn URL, the agent calls ContactOut to retrieve verified email, direct phone, and current title, updates the HubSpot contact record, posts a summary to the #new-leads Slack channel, and logs the enriched lead to the weekly inbound Google Sheet — all before the SDR's next check.

What your team gets back — two angles: what you stop doing manually, and what that's worth.

Without Actionist

What you do manually today

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    90 min / week
Manual LinkedIn and email lookup per lead

SDRs spend 5-10 minutes per inbound lead researching the contact on LinkedIn, guessing email formats, and copy-pasting into the CRM — time that compounds across 30+ leads a week.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent enriches inbound leads with verified contact data before the SDR sees them

When a form submission arrives, the agent calls ContactOut in the background and updates the CRM record with verified email, phone, and title — the rep opens a complete lead, not a name and a company.

  • Marketing
    60 min / week
Manual attendee enrichment and CRM import

The marketing team manually looks up each attendee on LinkedIn, guesses or chases their email, and copies data into HubSpot row by row — a task that takes hours for a 200-person webinar.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent batch-enriches event attendee lists before follow-up launches

After a webinar, the agent submits all attendee LinkedIn URLs to ContactOut batch enrichment, imports verified emails into HubSpot, and triggers the follow-up sequence — all within about a minute of the batch completing.

  • Customer Support
    45 min / week
    Reactive contact discovery during escalations

Support teams escalating a critical issue often discover mid-incident that the only contact on file has changed roles. Finding a new stakeholder during an active incident adds hours to resolution time.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
Agent maps full stakeholder contacts for new enterprise accounts on day one

When an enterprise account is created, the agent calls ContactOut to identify IT leads, operations managers, and executive sponsors, and writes their verified contacts to the CRM — the support team can reach anyone at the account without asking the main contact to relay messages.

  • Human Resources
    75 min / week
InMail or manual candidate email research

Recruiters spend InMail credits on passive candidates who may not check LinkedIn messages, or manually research work emails by guessing formats and verifying with email validation tools — both slow and unreliable.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent sources verified candidate emails from LinkedIn without InMail credits

The recruiting agent calls ContactOut for each passive candidate's LinkedIn URL and returns a verified email address — enabling direct outreach without waiting on InMail response rates or purchasing additional LinkedIn credits.

  • Finance
    40 min / week
Switchboard and generic email chase for billing contacts

Finance teams pursuing overdue invoices or billing disputes often spend days emailing accounts@company.com with no response, or navigating phone trees trying to reach the right billing contact.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
Agent identifies current billing and AP contacts at vendor companies on demand

When a vendor invoice dispute needs resolution, the agent calls Find Decision Makers with the vendor domain and returns the Finance Director and AP Manager with direct contact details — the finance team reaches the right person without going through a switchboard.

  • Operations
    120 min / week
    Quarterly manual CRM data cleanse

Without automated re-enrichment, CRM data decays silently. Teams discover outdated contacts only when an email bounces or a prospect mentions they moved companies — often months after the fact.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
Agent runs weekly CRM re-enrichment to detect job changes automatically

The operations agent re-enriches stale CRM contacts weekly via ContactOut, compares new data against stored data, and flags job-changed contacts for account owner review — keeping data quality high without a quarterly manual cleanse.

  • Legal
    30 min / week
Manual counterparty counsel research before negotiations

Legal teams spend time chasing general inboxes, asking business development contacts to pass along counsel details, or searching for the right counterparty attorney — often adding days to the contract initiation timeline.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent identifies counterparty legal contacts within minutes of a deal opening

When a new contract is initiated, the agent calls Find Decision Makers for the counterparty and retrieves the General Counsel and Legal Director with verified direct contact details, ready for the legal team before the first negotiation call.

FAQs

Questions about ContactOut + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to ContactOut?
Go to the Apps tab, find ContactOut, and click Connect. Enter your ContactOut API key in the API key field — you'll find it in your ContactOut dashboard under Settings > API. Actionist runs a test call to confirm the connection before any actions run. Every API operation (Get Contact Info, Enrich Profile, Batch Lookup, Find Decision Makers) uses the same key.
How does ContactOut's credit system work when Actionist calls the API?
ContactOut operates a credit-based model. Get Contact Info and Enrich Profile consume email/phone credits each time they return contact data. Find Decision Makers consumes search credits and may also consume email/phone credits when email or phone results are included. Batch Lookup deducts credits per enriched profile when results are returned. Credits are deducted at result time, not at request time — if ContactOut cannot find data for a profile, no credits are consumed.
Can the agent enrich hundreds of LinkedIn profiles at once, or only one at a time?
Yes. Batch Lookup (`/v2/people/linkedin/batch`) accepts a list of LinkedIn URLs and enriches them asynchronously, with an optional webhook callback URL when results are ready. For smaller volumes, Get Contact Info handles individual lookups synchronously. The agent can queue a batch on Monday and process results when the webhook fires, without polling.
What data can I pass to the ContactOut API and what does it return?
Enrich Profile is the most flexible endpoint — it accepts a LinkedIn URL, email address, phone number, full name plus company domain, or a combination. It returns structured profile data including name, title, company, location, and optionally emails and phone numbers depending on your plan. Get Contact Info works from a LinkedIn URL only and returns contact details directly. Use Enrich Profile when you have partial data and need to resolve it to a full profile.
How does Find Decision Makers work and what data does it need?
Find Decision Makers queries ContactOut's database by company domain, company name, or company LinkedIn URL and returns a list of key contacts at that company — typically C-suite, VP, and Director-level individuals. The results include names, titles, LinkedIn URLs, and optionally email and phone data. Your agent can feed the company domain from a CRM record and receive a ranked list of decision makers to add to the prospecting queue.
How accurate is ContactOut's contact data and how does Actionist handle uncertain results?
ContactOut's data is sourced from public LinkedIn profiles and third-party data partners. Email addresses are verified before being returned. The API returns a confidence indicator alongside contact data, and many integrations filter on confidence threshold before adding records to a CRM. Actionist agents can apply a minimum confidence filter before writing enriched contacts to HubSpot or Salesforce, so only verified data reaches your pipeline.
Is using ContactOut data for outreach GDPR-compliant?
ContactOut data is sourced from publicly available LinkedIn information and must be used in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and LinkedIn's terms of service. ContactOut maintains its own data processing agreements. Before deploying agents that auto-enrich and auto-email contacts, ensure your use case aligns with applicable regulations in your target geographies — typically this means having a legitimate interest basis and providing an unsubscribe path in outreach.
What are the most common ways teams use ContactOut through Actionist?
The most common patterns are: (1) inbound lead enrichment — when a form submission or trial signup arrives, the agent calls Enrich Profile with the provided email or LinkedIn URL to populate missing CRM fields; (2) outbound prospecting — the agent calls Find Decision Makers for a target account list and routes results to the sales team with one click per contact; (3) event follow-up — after a conference, the agent batch-enriches a list of scanned badges to get verified emails before the day is out; (4) data hygiene — the agent periodically re-enriches stale CRM contacts to catch job changes and update titles, companies, and contact details.
