Automate chatbot testing and QA at scale

ProjectsDeveloperAIAutomationMonitoring & Alerts

Botium Box is the leading chatbot testing and quality assurance platform — often called the Selenium for chatbots — that lets teams run automated test suites, measure NLP accuracy, and track regression across conversational AI products. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can trigger test runs on a schedule, pull test reports into dashboards, flag failing test cases to the right engineers, and keep your chatbot quality metrics visible across every team without anyone logging into the Botium UI.

Nightly chatbot regression with Slack digest and Jira tickets

Every night, the agent triggers Run Test Suite for all production chatbots, polls for completion, fetches Get Failed Test Cases, creates one Jira ticket per failing intent group with the conversation transcript, and posts a ranked pass/fail digest to the #chatbot-qa Slack channel. The QA lead arrives to a fully triaged failure list.

FAQs

Questions about Botium Box + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to Botium Box?
Go to the Apps tab, find Botium Box, and click Connect. You will need two things: the base URL of your Botium Box instance (for example, https://your-company.botiumbox.com) and an API key generated from Botium Box Settings under API Configuration. Paste both into the connection fields and click Test connection. Actionist runs a read-only probe call to confirm the handshake before any actions run.
Which Botium Box edition does Actionist work with?
Actionist connects to Botium Box via the REST API, which is available in both the Botium Box Community Edition (self-hosted) and the Enterprise Edition (cloud or self-hosted). You need API access enabled in your Botium Box instance settings. If you are on the Community Edition and do not see the API configuration screen, check that the API module is enabled in your instance configuration.
Can I trigger Botium Box test runs automatically when a chatbot build deploys?
Yes. Set up a Botium Box connection in Actionist, then configure an agent task that listens for your CI/CD system's build-complete event and calls Run Test Suite. The agent captures the run ID and can poll Get Test Suite Status until the run completes, then act on the result — blocking a release, filing Jira tickets, or posting a Slack digest. The whole loop runs automatically within about a minute of the build completing.
What happens when Actionist finds failing test cases in a Botium Box run?
After a run completes, you can configure the agent to call Get Failed Test Cases, which returns the failing conversation transcripts and intent mismatches. The agent can then group failures by intent, create one Jira ticket per failing intent group with the full transcript attached, and post a ranked summary to Slack. You define the downstream action — the agent handles the retrieval and routing automatically.
Can Actionist monitor NLP intent accuracy trends over time?
Yes. Schedule an agent task to call Get NLP Analytics and Get Intent Accuracy Report on a weekly cadence. The agent writes the accuracy scores to a Google Sheets dashboard, calculates week-over-week trends, and flags any intent that drops below a threshold you set. You build up a longitudinal accuracy record without anyone manually pulling reports from Botium Box.
Does Actionist support multiple Botium Box projects or chatbot instances?
Yes. A single Actionist connection to your Botium Box instance gives the agent access to all projects registered within it. The agent can call List Test Suites to get all projects, loop over them, and retrieve metrics or trigger runs for each one independently. If you have multiple Botium Box instances (for example, separate staging and production instances), you can add each as a separate Botium Box connection in Actionist.
How does Actionist help with regulatory compliance evidence for chatbots?
For regulated chatbots (handling GDPR data subject requests, financial disclosures, or healthcare triage), configure an agent to call Get Test Report on a weekly or monthly schedule. The agent retrieves the formatted test report, uploads it to a designated compliance folder in Google Drive, and notifies your compliance officer. This creates an unbroken, automatically timestamped chain of test evidence without anyone logging into Botium Box.
Can I set up Actionist to keep Botium Box chatbot configurations in sync with deployments?
Yes. Configure an agent to watch your CI/CD system or deployment manifest for endpoint changes and call Update Chatbot Configuration in Botium Box whenever a new endpoint URL goes live. The agent can immediately follow the configuration update with a Run Test Suite call on the smoke test suite, so Botium Box is always pointing at the right endpoint and you get a connectivity check within about a minute of any deployment.
