Verify emails and eliminate bounces before they hit

SalesMarketingEmailSecurityEmail MarketingLead Generation

BounceBan is an email verification API specialising in catch-all email addresses — the hardest class of addresses to verify accurately. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can verify email addresses before outreach, scrub contact lists before campaigns, check account validity during sign-up flows, and surface verification results straight to your CRM or spreadsheet — without ever sending a test message.

Eliminates manual work. Agents eliminate the manual cycle of discovering bad email addresses after a bounce, cleaning up CRM records, building suppression lists, and investigating deliverability penalties — all of which happen reactively without verification gates.

Verify lead email before CRM entry

When a new lead row appears in Google Sheets, the agent calls Verify Single Email on the address. Valid and unknown results are imported into HubSpot as contacts; invalid addresses are logged to a suppression sheet and excluded from the CRM. The sales team starts every week working only clean, verified leads.

What your team gets back — two angles: what you stop doing manually, and what that's worth.

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    45 min / week
    Manual email bounce management

Reps discover bad email addresses only after a bounce, then manually update the CRM, remove the contact from sequences, and try to source a new address — losing days of pipeline momentum.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
    Agent verifies before first contact

The sales agent verifies every prospect email before the first outreach is queued. Invalid addresses are flagged and removed from the sequence before a single message is sent — no bounces, no manual cleanup.

  • Marketing
    60 min / week
    Post-send bounce cleanup

The team reviews bounce reports after each campaign send, manually suppresses bad addresses, and investigates whether the high bounce rate has triggered a deliverability penalty from the email platform.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent scrubs the list before send

The marketing agent runs the full send list through batch verification before the campaign is approved. Invalid addresses are removed before the send button is pressed, keeping bounce rates below platform thresholds.

  • Customer Support
    30 min / week
    Undeliverable support replies

Support agents reply to tickets from invalid email addresses and never receive a read confirmation. The issue is often discovered only when the customer calls in a second time, frustrated that their problem went unanswered.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
Agent flags invalid addresses at ticket creation

The support agent verifies the email address on every new ticket. Invalid addresses are flagged immediately so the support agent can prompt the customer for an alternative contact method before sending the first reply.

  • Human Resources
    20 min / week
    Lost interview invitations

Interview invitations and onboarding documents are sent to candidate email addresses without verification. A bad address means the candidate never receives the invitation and misses the interview, wasting recruiter time and damaging the candidate experience.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent verifies candidate email before every send

The HR agent verifies each candidate's email before dispatching interview invitations or onboarding documents. Invalid addresses trigger an immediate recruiter alert, giving time to confirm the correct address before the candidate's slot is wasted.

  • Finance
    15 min / week
    Manual credit monitoring

The finance team discovers verification credits have run out when an automated campaign fails mid-run. They manually top up the account and restart the job, losing hours of campaign delivery time.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
Agent monitors credits daily and alerts proactively

The finance agent checks the credit balance every morning, projects the depletion date, and creates a top-up task when the runway drops below 10 days. Credits are never the reason a campaign stops mid-send.

  • Operations
    90 min / week
    Reactive database hygiene

Database hygiene happens reactively after a campaign bounce report surfaces a quality problem. Ops manually exports the bad addresses, removes them from the CRM, and sets up suppression lists — a multi-hour exercise repeated after every campaign.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
    Agent runs weekly hygiene automatically

The operations agent batch-verifies all new contacts every Sunday evening. By Monday morning, invalid addresses are already in the suppression list. Campaign teams never work from a dirty database.

  • Legal
    25 min / week
    Manual compliance log extraction

When a DSAR or compliance audit requires a record of email addresses processed through verification services, legal manually contacts the vendor, requests a usage report, and reformats the data for the response pack — a process that can take days.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent exports verification history on demand

The legal agent queries the BounceBan verification history for any requested time period and exports the timestamped, result-annotated log to Google Sheets within minutes. DSAR response packs are completed the same day the request arrives.

FAQs

Questions about BounceBan + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to BounceBan?
Open the Apps tab in Actionist, search for BounceBan, and click Connect. You will be prompted to enter your BounceBan API key, which you can find in your BounceBan dashboard under API Settings. Actionist sends a test call to the account endpoint to confirm the key is valid before saving the credential. Once connected, your agents can call any verification action without further setup.
What is the difference between regular verification and DeepVerify mode?
Regular verification performs standard SMTP checks against the target email address. It works well for most addresses but returns 'unknown' for catch-all domains, because catch-all servers accept every incoming message regardless of whether the mailbox exists. DeepVerify is BounceBan's speciality — it uses the contact's known company website domain to cross-reference the email domain, significantly improving accuracy for catch-all addresses. Use DeepVerify when you have the company website from a CRM or LinkedIn profile and you need to resolve catch-all addresses to a definitive result.
What does an 'unknown' verification result mean, and how should the agent handle it?
An 'unknown' result means BounceBan could not definitively confirm or deny the address's validity at the time of verification — typically because the receiving mail server is a catch-all or is protected by an Email Security Gateway (ESG). 'Unknown' addresses should not be treated the same as 'invalid': many are genuine inboxes. The recommended approach is to route unknown addresses to a secondary DeepVerify pass if you have the company domain, or to include them in outreach with a suppression rule that removes them if they hard-bounce on the first send.
Does verifying an email address use credits even if the result is 'unknown'?
It depends on the mode. In standard verification mode, catch-all or ESG-protected addresses that return 'unknown' still consume a credit because full verification processing occurred. In the 'Verify Email Without Catch-All Check' mode (disable_catchall_verify = 1), addresses that cannot be resolved and return 'unknown' cost zero credits — making it an efficient way to pre-screen large lists before spending credits on full verification of the ambiguous portion.
Can Actionist verify email addresses in bulk for large lists?
Yes. The Batch Verify Emails action submits multiple addresses concurrently rather than sequentially, significantly reducing wall-clock time for large lists. For very large imports, the agent can also use the webhook callback mode — submitting addresses with a target URL and processing results asynchronously as they arrive. The Get Verification Result by Job ID action provides a polling fallback if a webhook callback is missed.
How does the agent keep BounceBan credits from running out mid-campaign?
The Finance Agent runs a daily credit balance check using Get Account Credits Balance and compares it against the rolling daily consumption from Get Daily Verification Stats. When the projected runway drops below a configurable threshold — typically 7 to 10 business days — the agent creates a purchase reminder task and sends a Slack alert to the finance team. You can also configure the agent to check credits before every large batch submission and pause the job if the balance is insufficient for the estimated job size.
Can the agent produce a verification history report for compliance or audit purposes?
Yes. The Get Verification History action retrieves a paginated log of all verification requests made on the account, including timestamps, result statuses, and credit costs per address. The Legal Agent can query this log for any requested time period and export it to Google Sheets for compliance reporting, Data Subject Access Requests (DSARs), or vendor audits. The export includes enough detail to demonstrate that email addresses were processed through a verification service with a documented result.
How do I avoid wasting credits on obviously invalid domains before running full verification?
Use the Check Email Domain MX Records action as a zero-credit pre-filter. Before submitting a large list for full address-level verification, the agent checks each unique domain for a valid MX record. Domains with no mail server configuration cannot receive email by definition, so all associated addresses are removed before the paid verification pass begins. This two-step approach — MX filter first, full verification second — is the most credit-efficient way to scrub a large cold prospect list.
