New blog post published — newsletter campaign sent automatically

When a blog post is marked Published in Notion, the agent creates the newsletter campaign in Sender with the post title as the subject line and the newsletter group as the audience, sends it immediately, posts a confirmation to Slack, and logs the send in the content distribution tracker — the whole process runs without anyone opening the Sender dashboard.

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    30 min / week
Manual list export and import for every pipeline update

Reps export updated contacts from the CRM and import them into Sender manually, or copy email addresses into groups by hand — a task that happens days after the deal stage change, if at all.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent adds and segments leads in Sender on deal events

When a deal stage changes in HubSpot, the agent updates the subscriber record in Sender and moves the contact between groups — the right nurture sequence fires before the rep finishes their next call.

  • Marketing
    45 min / week
Manual campaign creation, send, and stat exports

Marketers create campaigns in the Sender dashboard, set the target group, schedule the send, then manually pull stats after each send and copy numbers into a reporting spreadsheet.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent creates, sends, and reports campaigns from triggers

When content is published or an event fires, the agent creates the campaign, sends it to the right group, and writes the performance stats to the reporting sheet — no dashboard visits required.

  • Customer Support
    20 min / week
    Manual weekly opt-out batch processing

Support managers review tickets for opt-out requests, manually unsubscribe each email in the Sender dashboard, and update the CRM — a weekly batch task that leaves contacts in the system for up to 7 days after requesting removal.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
Agent processes opt-outs within about a minute of a ticket tag

When a support ticket is tagged opt-out, the agent suppresses the email in Sender and updates the CRM field within about a minute — no compliance lag between the request and the suppression.

  • Human Resources
    15 min / week
Manual subscriber setup before each new hire cohort

HR manually adds each new hire's email to Sender, sets their group membership, and sends the welcome email — a per-person task that often delays onboarding communications by days.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent adds new hires to Sender and triggers onboarding on day one

When a new employee record is created, the agent adds them to Sender with their department fields and places them in the onboarding group — the welcome email sequence starts within about a minute.

  • Finance
    25 min / week
    Manual overdue invoice reminder emails

Finance staff check the accounts receivable sheet weekly, identify overdue invoices, and send individual reminder emails or manually trigger campaigns in Sender — a task that slips when the team is busy.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
Agent sends tiered dunning campaigns automatically on overdue triggers

When an invoice reaches 7, 14, or 30 days overdue, the agent sends the appropriate dunning campaign via Sender with the outstanding amount and payment link — no accounts receivable manual follow-up.

  • Operations
    60 min / week
    Weekly manual subscriber data maintenance

Ops manually exports updated contact data from the master system, imports it into Sender, and checks that group structures are correct — a multi-step process that takes hours and still misses mid-week changes.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
Agent keeps Sender groups and subscriber data synced from master systems

The operations agent runs a weekly full sync from the data warehouse to Sender, updates all subscriber custom fields, and flags any structural issues in the group setup before campaigns run.

  • Legal
    40 min / week
Manual GDPR request processing and suppression audits

Legal manually processes each data subject request in the Sender dashboard, cross-references the suppression list against the CRM, and builds the audit log by hand — a time-consuming weekly compliance task.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent processes GDPR requests and audits suppression lists weekly

The legal agent processes every data subject request by unsubscribing the email and pulling the subscriber profile for the response package — the audit trail is built automatically as each request is handled.

FAQs

Questions about Sender + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to Sender?
Go to the Apps tab in Actionist, find Sender, and click Connect. The recommended path is an API key connection — go to Sender → Settings → API, generate an API key, and paste it into Actionist. Actionist runs a test call to your account to verify the key works before any agent tasks run. Once connected, your agents can add and update subscribers, create and send campaigns, and react to webhooks from your Sender account.
What permissions does the Sender API key need?
Your Sender API key needs full access to your account — subscriber management (read and write), group management, and campaign creation and delivery. Generate the key from Sender → Settings → API with admin-level account permissions. If you limit the key's scope to read-only, write operations like Add / Update Subscriber and Create Campaign will return 403 errors.
Can I connect Sender to other apps in the same workflow?
Yes. Sender is most powerful when combined with the apps where your customer data already lives. Common combinations include: add subscribers from new HubSpot contacts or Shopify customers; trigger a campaign when a Notion project moves to a new stage; write campaign performance data to Google Sheets; and send transactional campaigns for order events from your ecommerce platform. Any of Actionist's 200+ connected apps can send data to or receive data from Sender in the same agent workflow.
What are the most common things agents do with Sender?
The four most common patterns are: (1) list hygiene — adding, updating, and removing subscribers across groups based on CRM or ecommerce events; (2) campaign scheduling — creating and sending campaigns triggered by product launches, content publication, or calendar events; (3) transactional messaging — firing transactional campaigns for receipts, password resets, and order confirmations from your own apps; and (4) unsubscribe compliance — calling Unsubscribe Email within minutes of a suppression request arriving in another system.
Does Sender support SMS as well as email?
Yes. Sender supports both email marketing and SMS in one platform. When an agent calls Send Transactional Campaign or Send Campaign, Sender handles delivery across both channels according to the campaign type and the subscriber's preferences. You configure the channel mix inside Sender; the Actionist integration fires the campaign and your agents react to the resulting webhook events.
How quickly do Sender triggers fire in Actionist?
Sender's webhooks fire within about a minute of the underlying event. The available events are: New Subscriber, New Group, New Subscriber in Group, New Unsubscriber, New Unsubscriber From Group, Updated Subscriber, and New Campaign. Actionist polls these webhooks and starts any agent task that depends on them within about a minute of the event occurring — not in real-time, but well within any normal business workflow window.
How do I handle unsubscribes from external systems in Sender?
Use the Unsubscribe Email action any time a contact opts out in an external system — your CRM, a landing page, or a support ticket. Actionist calls Unsubscribe Email with the contact's address, Sender processes the suppression, and the contact will no longer receive campaigns from your account. This keeps your list compliant with GDPR, CAN-SPAM, and other regulations without requiring manual intervention in the Sender dashboard.
How do I avoid creating duplicate subscribers when syncing from a CRM?
Sender's Add / Update Subscriber action is idempotent by email address — if the subscriber already exists, it updates their fields rather than creating a duplicate. Use this as the default action for any contact sync so you never inflate your subscriber count with duplicates. Remove Subscriber From Group is the safe way to move a contact out of a segment without unsubscribing them from your account entirely.
