SalesAnalyticsFinanceEcommerceAutomationPayments

eBay is the world's leading global marketplace connecting millions of buyers and sellers across more than 190 markets. For sellers, eBay exposes a comprehensive REST API suite — covering order management, inventory, fulfilment, marketing, and analytics — that lets Actionist agents automate the entire selling workflow. Connect eBay to Actionist and your agents can process new orders within about a minute of purchase, sync inventory quantities from your warehouse system, create shipping fulfillments with carrier tracking, manage payment disputes, launch promotions on schedule, and deliver weekly performance reports — all without logging into Seller Hub.

New order to dispatch queue to eBay shipped in one flow

Within about a minute of a new eBay order, the agent retrieves the full order details, appends a row to the fulfilment tracker in Google Sheets, alerts the #dispatch Slack channel with pick details, and once the warehouse confirms tracking creates the shipping fulfillment on eBay automatically. No manual Seller Hub order processing.

What your team gets back — two angles: what you stop doing manually, and what that's worth.

Without Actionist

What you do manually today

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    30 min / week
Manual order review and buyer tracking

Reps manually export eBay orders to identify repeat buyers, track SKU velocity in a spreadsheet, and flag restock needs — a 30-minute process run inconsistently.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent surfaces repeat buyers and restock signals automatically

After each order, the agent checks buyer history, logs lifetime value, and flags fast-moving SKUs approaching stock-out — the sales team sees opportunities without opening Seller Hub.

  • Marketing
    45 min / week
Manual promotion setup and traffic review

Marketing logs into Seller Hub to create each promotion, then manually checks the traffic report for each listing to find underperformers — taking 45 minutes per week per campaign.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent launches promotions and reports traffic metrics automatically

Seasonal promotions go live on schedule without a Seller Hub login; weekly traffic reports surface low-CTR listings for optimisation — all posted to Slack before the planning meeting.

  • Customer Support
    75 min / week
    Manual dispute monitoring and resolution

Support agents manually check the eBay Resolution Centre daily, read each dispute, look up the original order, decide on a response, and process refunds one by one — 15-20 minutes per dispute.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
Agent triages disputes, issues eligible refunds, and tracks deadlines

Payment disputes are detected within about a minute, classified by risk and deadline, and low-value ones resolved automatically — the support team handles only cases that need human judgment.

  • Human Resources
    20 min / week
Manual HR reporting on seller performance

HR manually requests order and defect reports from operations, reformats the data, and tries to correlate it with absence records — a once-a-quarter exercise that is rarely complete.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent maps seller metrics to staffing data for evidence-based planning

Late shipment rates and defect metrics are automatically correlated with shift headcount data, giving HR a data-driven staffing case rather than anecdotal requests for more warehouse staff.

  • Finance
    60 min / week
    Manual eBay revenue reconciliation

Finance downloads the eBay monthly payout report, maps transaction IDs to orders, applies the correct VAT treatment, and cross-checks refunds — a 2-3 hour monthly task prone to formula errors.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
Agent reconciles revenue, fees, and refunds automatically

Every order's revenue, eBay fees, and refunds are logged to the finance tracker as they happen — the weekly reconciliation takes minutes to review rather than hours to build.

  • Operations
    90 min / week
    Manual eBay operations management

Operations logs into Seller Hub to check orders, update inventory manually after each stock count, mark orders as shipped, and check seller metrics — averaging 90 minutes of eBay admin per day.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
Agent syncs inventory, creates fulfillments, and monitors seller standards

Stock levels sync to eBay daily, shipping fulfillments are created as tracking numbers are confirmed, and seller standard metrics are checked against thresholds every Friday — operations runs without a Seller Hub session.

  • Legal
    30 min / week
Manual dispute and compliance record keeping

Legal manually reviews disputes at end of month, exports and reformats records for the audit register, and checks listings for compliance violations on an ad-hoc basis when prompted by eBay notices.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent maintains the dispute register and compliance audit trail automatically

Every dispute is logged to the audit register with reason code, resolution, and deadline; restricted-item compliance is scanned weekly; seller level risk is assessed against eBay standards every Friday.

How to plug eBay into Actionist

Pick the connection method that suits your environment.

The recommended connection path. Authorise Actionist via eBay's standard OAuth flow — no tokens to manage, and permissions are tied to your seller account.

1
Open the Apps tab

Find eBay in the Apps tab and click Connect. OAuth is selected by default.

2
Authorise with your eBay seller account

An eBay sign-in window opens. Sign in with your seller account and grant Actionist the requested permissions — order read/write, inventory, and analytics scopes.

FAQs

Questions about eBay + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to my eBay seller account?
Go to the Apps tab, find eBay, and click Connect. The recommended path is OAuth — Actionist opens an eBay sign-in window, you grant the agent permission to read and manage your seller account, and the handshake completes. No API tokens to paste. Actionist runs a read-only test call to verify the connection before any actions run. If you prefer a manual token, generate a User Token from the eBay Developer Program portal and paste it into the token field instead.
What eBay API permissions does the agent need?
For order-related actions (Find an Order, Get Order) the agent needs the sell.fulfillment scope. For creating shipping fulfillments it needs sell.fulfillment in write mode. For inventory operations (Create or Replace Inventory Item, Publish Offer) it needs sell.inventory. eBay OAuth scopes are requested during the connection flow — Actionist bundles the relevant scopes for the actions you configure so you authorise everything in a single step.
Can Actionist trigger an action when a new eBay order arrives?
Yes. eBay triggers in Actionist poll the eBay API on a regular cadence and detect changes within about a minute. When a new order is placed, the trigger fires and the agent executes the downstream steps — whether that is logging the order to a spreadsheet, creating a shipping fulfillment, or alerting your fulfilment team in Slack. Triggers work for any eBay marketplace your account sells on.
Which eBay APIs does Actionist support?
Actionist's eBay integration covers the Fulfillment API (orders, shipping fulfillments, refunds, payment disputes), the Inventory API (inventory items, offers, listings), the Catalog API (product search and item aspects), the Account API (business policies, return policies), the Analytics API (seller performance, traffic reports), and the Marketing API (promotions, promoted listings). The most common day-to-day operations are all accessible without writing code.
Can the agent automatically update my eBay inventory quantities?
Yes. Use the Create or Replace Inventory Item action to update quantity, price, or condition for a specific SKU. You can run this action on a schedule — for example, every morning the agent reads current stock levels from your inventory sheet and pushes updated quantities to eBay before the business day starts. This prevents overselling, which is the most common source of buyer disputes and negative feedback for high-volume eBay sellers.
Can I connect eBay to other apps in the same workflow?
Yes — eBay is most powerful as part of a multi-app workflow. Common combinations: new orders trigger fulfilment steps in Google Sheets or a shipping tool; order data is logged to accounting software; low-inventory alerts create purchase-order tasks in a project management tool; payment confirmations are posted to a finance Slack channel; buyer dispute resolutions are logged to a legal audit register. Any of Actionist's connected apps can participate in the same agent workflow as eBay.
How do I automate eBay refunds and payment disputes?
Use the Issue Refund action. The agent calls the eBay Fulfillment API issueRefund method against the specified order ID. You can configure the refund reason, amount (partial or full), and any seller-initiated notes. If the refund is related to a payment dispute, the agent can also call the Accept Payment Dispute action to resolve the case and then issue the refund in a single sequential scheduled agent task — no manual eBay Resolution Centre navigation needed.
Can Actionist manage eBay promotions and Promoted Listings?
The eBay Marketing API lets you create promotions (percentage discounts, buy-one-get-one, shipping discounts) and manage Promoted Listings campaigns. In Actionist you can schedule agents to create a new promotion when a seasonal event starts, pause promoted listings for SKUs that are low on stock, or pull campaign analytics and report click-through rates against spend in a weekly Slack digest. Promotion creation requires the sell.marketing OAuth scope, which is included in the recommended connection flow.
