CRMSalesMarketingAnalyticsSecurityAutomationLead Generation

Clearbit is a B2B data enrichment platform that turns an email address, company domain, or IP address into a full firmographic and technographic profile — employee count, industry, estimated revenue, tech stack, headquarters location, and decision-maker contact details. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can enrich every inbound lead the moment it arrives, de-anonymise website visitors into warm account signals, score contacts for fraud risk, and run bulk enrichment passes across your CRM on a schedule — all without a human touching a research tab.

Eliminates manual work. Agents eliminate the manual cycle of looking up company size, industry, and contact seniority before calls, emails, and contract reviews — research that previously consumed 5-15 minutes per contact.

New HubSpot contact enriched before rep sees it

When a new contact is created in HubSpot, the agent enriches the email address with Clearbit's combined person and company endpoint, writes title, seniority, company size, and industry back to the CRM record, posts a summary to #new-leads, and logs the lead to the weekly tracker — all before the sales rep's notification even loads.

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    30 min / week
Manual account research before every call

Reps manually look up company size, industry, and contact title in LinkedIn or Crunchbase before each outbound call — 5-10 minutes of research per contact.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent enriches every lead before the rep sees it

When a new contact is created, the agent calls Clearbit to append seniority, company size, and industry before routing — reps enter every call prepared, not researching.

  • Marketing
    25 min / week
Manual lead segmentation after form submissions

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent segments inbound leads automatically at enrichment

Every form submission is enriched with employee count and seniority on arrival, automatically tagged with the correct ICP tier and routed to the matching nurture track.

  • Customer Support
    20 min / week
Manual ticket triage by company tier

Support agents manually check which plan a customer is on and what size company they work for before assigning priority — adding 3-5 minutes of research to every inbound ticket.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
Agent sets ticket priority from company size enrichment

When a ticket arrives, the agent enriches the email domain to retrieve company size and sets priority automatically — enterprise tickets reach the dedicated queue within about a minute of creation.

  • Human Resources
    15 min / week
    Manual employer research per candidate

Recruiters manually look up each candidate's employer on LinkedIn or Crunchbase to understand the company size and industry context before the interview panel debrief.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent enriches candidate employer histories from ATS data

When candidates are added to the ATS, the agent enriches each employer name to a domain and pulls firmographic context for the interview debrief — no recruiter research time required.

  • Finance
    20 min / week
Manual company size research per new contract

Finance manually researches each new customer's estimated revenue and employee count from public sources before approving contract terms — taking 10-15 minutes per contract.

    Finance Agent

When a new contract is received, the agent enriches the customer domain to retrieve estimated revenue and employee count, enabling credit risk classification before finance countersigns.

  • Operations
    40 min / week
    Manual CRM data hygiene reviews

Operations manually audits CRM company records for stale or missing firmographic fields on a quarterly basis — a multi-hour exercise that still leaves records out-of-date between reviews.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
Agent runs bulk CRM enrichment on a weekly cadence

The operations agent runs a weekly streaming enrichment pass across all stale CRM records, updating employee count, industry, and tech stack without anyone touching a spreadsheet.

  • Legal
    12 min / week
Manual counterparty research for every contract

Legal team manually researches each counterparty's registered jurisdiction, employee count, and legal name from company registries and websites before beginning contract review.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent enriches counterparties before contract drafting begins

When a new counterparty is added to the contracts database, the agent resolves the name to a domain and enriches it with HQ jurisdiction and employee count — due-diligence data is ready before the lawyer opens the template.

FAQs

Questions about Clearbit + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to Clearbit?
Go to the Apps tab, find Clearbit, and click Connect. Paste in your Clearbit API key (found in your Clearbit dashboard under API). Actionist runs a test enrichment call to confirm the key is valid before any live actions run. If your organisation transitioned to HubSpot Breeze Intelligence, contact your HubSpot rep for the applicable API credentials.
What permissions does the agent need on my Clearbit account?
For Company Enrichment and Name-to-Domain lookups, the API key only needs read access — it is a single secret with no scope selectors. For Person Enrichment by email, the same key is used. If your plan includes Reveal (IP-to-company), the key must be provisioned with Reveal access in your Clearbit account. There are no separate OAuth scopes to configure.
Can I combine Clearbit with other apps in the same agent task?
Yes. Clearbit is most powerful combined with the apps where your leads live. Common combinations: enrich a new HubSpot contact with firmographic data from Clearbit the moment it is created; write enriched fields to a Google Sheets lead tracker; look up the company behind an inbound email in Gmail; autocomplete company names in a Notion intake form. Any of Actionist's 200+ connected apps can send or receive enriched data alongside Clearbit in the same scheduled agent task.
What are the most common things agents do with Clearbit?
The four patterns that come up most: (1) new-lead enrichment — the moment a form submission or inbound email arrives, the agent calls Person Enrichment to append job title, seniority, and company size before the lead hits the CRM; (2) account research — before an outbound sequence, the agent calls Company Enrichment to pre-fill ICP fields like employee count, industry, and tech stack so reps enter calls prepared; (3) autocomplete on intake forms — the agent calls Company Autocomplete to match a partially typed name to a domain so downstream lookups stay accurate; (4) domain-from-name resolution — when you only have a company name, Name-to-Domain returns the canonical domain so you can run a full company enrichment without guessing.
What data fields does Clearbit actually return?
Clearbit returns over 100 attributes per company, including legal name, domain, industry, sub-industry, employee count, estimated annual revenue, headquarters location, tech stack (technologies used), social media profiles, and logo URL. For people, it returns name, job title, seniority level, department, LinkedIn and Twitter URLs, and whether the email is likely a role address. Not every attribute is populated for every record — coverage depends on Clearbit's data quality for that specific domain or email.
How does Clearbit's async enrichment work with Actionist agents?
Clearbit's enrichment is asynchronous by design for real-time lookups — if the profile is already cached, the response is near-instant; if it needs to be fetched or refreshed, Clearbit returns a 202 and a webhook fires when the profile is ready (within about a minute). Actionist agents handle the async pattern transparently: the agent waits for the webhook before continuing downstream steps, so you never need to manually poll the API.
What happened to Clearbit after the HubSpot acquisition?
Following HubSpot's acquisition of Clearbit in December 2023, the Clearbit brand was rebranded to Breeze Intelligence inside HubSpot. Standalone Clearbit API access for existing customers continues with the same API keys and endpoints while HubSpot manages the transition. New standalone Clearbit accounts are no longer available — new customers access the enrichment data through HubSpot's Breeze Intelligence product. Actionist supports the classic Clearbit API for existing API key holders.
When should I use Person Enrichment versus Company Enrichment?
Clearbit's combined Person and Company enrichment call returns a unified response when you pass an email address from a corporate domain — you get the person profile plus the company profile in a single API call. When you only have a domain, you call Company Enrichment directly. When you only have a company name, call Name-to-Domain first to get the domain, then call Company Enrichment with that domain. Actionist agents chain these steps automatically based on what data is available at the start of the task.
