Add language intelligence to every agent task

ProductivityDocumentsAnalyticsDeveloperAIAutomation

Claude is Anthropic's family of AI models, accessible via the Claude API. Agents connect Claude to the apps where work already happens — sending text, documents, and images to Claude for generation, summarisation, classification, and extraction, then routing the results downstream without human intervention. With support for 1-million-token context windows, a Files API for reusable large documents, batch processing for high-volume tasks at half the token cost, and extended thinking for complex reasoning, Claude gives every Actionist agent a powerful language intelligence layer that works alongside any connected app.

Proposal draft ready the moment a deal advances

When a deal advances to the Proposal stage in HubSpot, the agent pulls the company profile and key pain points, sends them to Claude with a tone-matched proposal prompt, and writes the structured draft to the Notion deal page — then pings the rep in Slack. The rep opens a ready-to-edit outline rather than a blank document.

What your team gets back — two angles: what you stop doing manually, and what that's worth.

Without Actionist

What you do manually today

With Actionist

What your agent runs for you

  • Sales
    45 min / week
    Manual proposal writing from scratch

Reps spend 45–90 minutes per proposal gathering context, structuring the document, and writing the opening sections before any personalisation even begins.

    Sales Agent
    0 min
Agent drafts proposals the moment a deal advances

When a deal moves to Proposal stage in HubSpot, Claude generates a structured outline using the CRM context — the rep opens a ready-to-edit draft instead of a blank page.

  • Marketing
    60 min / week
    Manual content repurposing per channel

The marketing team manually rewrites each long-form piece into three separate channel formats — a process that takes 60–90 minutes per post and often gets skipped under deadline pressure.

    Marketing Agent
    0 min
Agent repurposes every long-form piece into channel assets

When a blog post is ready, Claude generates a LinkedIn post, Twitter thread, and newsletter snippet simultaneously — all three variants land in the content calendar without any additional writing time.

  • Customer Support
    40 min / week
    Manual ticket response drafting

Support agents read each ticket, search the knowledge base, compose a reply, and format it correctly — averaging 8–12 minutes per ticket for non-trivial issues.

    Customer Support Agent
    0 min
Agent posts a draft reply before the ticket is opened

When a new ticket arrives, Claude drafts a knowledge-base-grounded reply and posts it as an internal note — the agent reviews and sends with one click rather than composing from scratch.

  • Human Resources
    35 min / week
    Manual CV screening

HR reads each CV individually, compares against the job description, writes a one-line note, and decides whether to advance — 10–15 minutes per candidate when the pipeline is active.

    Human Resources Agent
    0 min
Agent pre-screens and scores every CV automatically

When a new CV is submitted, Claude scores it against the role requirements and writes a two-sentence summary to the candidate record — hiring managers open a ranked shortlist instead of an unread pile.

  • Finance
    30 min / week
    Manual invoice data entry

The AP team opens each invoice, reads the key fields, and manually enters them into the tracking spreadsheet — 8–12 minutes per invoice when volumes are high.

    Finance Agent
    0 min
Agent extracts invoice data with vision — no re-keying

When an invoice PDF arrives, Claude's vision endpoint extracts vendor, amount, line items, and due date and writes them directly to the AP tracker — the AP team reviews and approves rather than re-entering data.

  • Operations
    45 min / week
Manual meeting notes and action-item logging

Someone on the team manually re-reads meeting notes, identifies action items, and enters them into the task tracker — a process that takes 15–20 minutes per meeting and often happens late or not at all.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
Agent extracts and logs action items from every meeting

After every meeting, Claude reads the raw notes, extracts all action items with owners and due dates, and writes them to the task tracker — no commitment slips through unrecorded.

  • Legal
    50 min / week
Manual contract review for clause extraction

Legal reads each new vendor contract in full to locate and extract the key clauses, then manually enters them into the contract register — 30–60 minutes per contract depending on length and complexity.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent extracts key clauses from every contract on receipt

When a vendor contract arrives, Claude extracts the liability cap, indemnification terms, IP ownership, and renewal date and writes them to the register — attorneys review structured data rather than reading every contract cold.

FAQs

Questions about Claude + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to Claude?
Go to the Apps tab in Actionist, find Claude, and click Connect. The recommended path is API key: navigate to console.anthropic.com, go to API Keys, and create a new key with the permissions your agent needs. Paste the key into Actionist and click Test connection — Actionist runs a lightweight Messages API call to confirm the handshake before any agent tasks run.
What do I need to connect Claude to Actionist?
You need an Anthropic API key with access to whichever model family you plan to use. If your agents call Claude claude-opus-4-7 or Sonnet 4.6, make sure your account has those models enabled in the Anthropic console. Usage is billed per token on your Anthropic account — Actionist passes your API key through; it does not re-bill Claude usage.
Can I combine Claude with other apps in the same agent task?
Yes. Claude is most powerful when paired with apps where your real work lives. Common combinations: send data to Claude for analysis and write the output to Google Sheets; pass a customer support ticket through Claude to generate a draft reply, then post it in Zendesk; summarise a Notion document and email it via Gmail; or classify incoming leads from HubSpot and route them to the right team in Slack.
What are the most common ways agents use Claude?
The most common patterns are: (1) text generation — drafting emails, proposals, summaries, or structured content from raw inputs; (2) classification and routing — labelling support tickets, leads, or documents so agents can take the right downstream action; (3) extraction — pulling structured fields from free-form text like contracts, emails, or meeting notes; (4) multi-turn reasoning — using the Messages API to run a back-and-forth conversation within a single agent task, letting Claude ask clarifying questions before producing an output.
Can I customise Claude's behaviour and persona for each agent task?
Yes. The Create Message action accepts a `system` field that sets Claude's persona and constraints for the entire conversation, and `max_tokens` to cap response length. You can also pass a `temperature` value to control determinism — lower values like 0.2 produce more consistent outputs for classification tasks, while higher values like 0.9 are better for creative drafting. Model selection (Opus, Sonnet, Haiku) lets you balance quality against speed and cost per task.
Can Claude agents read and analyse images?
Claude supports vision via the Messages API. Pass an image as a base64-encoded content block alongside your text prompt and Claude will analyse and describe it, extract text from it, or answer questions about it. This is useful for agents that process scanned documents, screenshots, product photos, or uploaded receipts without a separate OCR step.
How do I handle very long documents or large amounts of text?
Claude models support context windows up to 1 million tokens (on Opus and Sonnet). For agents processing long contracts, full codebases, or large document sets, you can pass the entire content in a single Messages API call. For tasks that regularly approach those limits, use the Count Tokens action first to measure payload size and decide whether to chunk or pass the full context.
Is there a cheaper way to process high volumes of Claude calls?
The Anthropic Messages Batch API lets you submit up to 10,000 requests in a single call at a 50% token-cost discount. Use the Create Message Batch action when your agent needs to process a large volume of items — classifying 500 support tickets, summarising 200 documents, or scoring 1,000 leads — where latency does not need to be real-time. Check batch status with Get Message Batch; retrieve results with List Message Batch Results once the batch completes.
