Run AI predictions on images, video, text, and audio — at production scale

AnalyticsDeveloperAISecurityAutomation

Clarifai is a full-stack AI platform for unstructured data — images, video, text, and audio. Its REST API gives agents direct access to over 500 pre-built models (image classification, object detection, face recognition, text moderation, embedding, and more), as well as custom-trained models and multi-model workflows. Connect Clarifai to Actionist and your agents can submit images for instant concept recognition, detect objects in video frames, run text through safety classifiers, search an embedding index, train new models from labeled inputs, and pipe the results into any other connected tool — all without writing a line of ML code.

  • Operations
    45 min / week
Manual model training and version management

An ML engineer monitors labeled-input counts in the Clarifai dashboard, manually triggers training when enough new data has accumulated, and records the resulting version in a spreadsheet.

    Operations Agent
    0 min
Agent monitors input counts and triggers retraining automatically

The Operations Agent counts new labeled inputs each week, triggers Train Model when the threshold is met, logs the version ID to the tracking sheet, and notifies the team in Slack — no ML engineer dashboard-watching required.

  • Legal
    30 min / week
Manual PII scan of transcripts before archiving

A compliance analyst reads through closed support transcripts to check for unredacted PII before they are sent to the long-term archive — a time-consuming process that scales poorly with ticket volume.

    Legal Agent
    0 min
Agent screens every transcript for PII before the archive job runs

The Legal Agent runs each transcript through Clarifai's PII detection model, holds any transcript with detected PII for redaction, and logs the compliance decision — clean transcripts archive automatically.

How to plug Clarifai into Actionist

Pick the connection method that suits your environment.

Authenticate with a Clarifai Personal Access Token (PAT). Generate one in Clarifai Security settings and paste it below — the agent uses it as a Bearer token on every API call.

1
Open Clarifai Security settings

Log in to Clarifai, click your avatar in the top-right corner, then go to Security → Personal Access Tokens.

2
Create a token

Click Create, give the token a name (e.g. 'Actionist'), set an expiry if required by your policy, and copy the generated token. Treat it like a password — you will not see it again.

3
Paste into Actionist

Paste the token into the field below and click Test connection. Actionist runs a read-only call to verify the handshake before any actions run.

FAQs

Questions about Clarifai + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to Clarifai?
Go to the Apps tab, find Clarifai, and click Connect. Enter your Clarifai Personal Access Token (PAT), which you generate in your Clarifai account under Security → Personal Access Tokens. Actionist uses the PAT as a Bearer token on every API call. Once connected, Actionist runs a read-only test call to verify the handshake before any actions run. You can revoke or rotate the token in Clarifai at any time without losing your Actionist configuration — just update the token field.
What Clarifai resources can Actionist agents work with?
Actionist agents can work with the four core Clarifai resource types: Models (run predictions, retrieve model info, trigger training), Inputs (upload media, list and search the input library), Workflows (run multi-model pipelines as a single call), and Concepts (add new label categories). The agent can submit images, video, and text for prediction, retrieve structured outputs, and write labels or metadata back to other connected apps — no ML coding required.
Which Clarifai models can I use through Actionist?
Any model accessible via the Clarifai REST API under your account can be used — that includes Clarifai's own pre-built models (general concept, NSFW, face detection, sentiment, language detection, embedding) and any custom models you have trained in your Clarifai application. You reference the model by its model ID and version ID in the action configuration. If you want to run multiple models in sequence, configure them as a Clarifai workflow and call it via the Run Workflow Prediction action.
Can Actionist automatically retrain my Clarifai model when new labeled data arrives?
Yes. The Train Model action triggers a training run programmatically on a model you specify. The recommended pattern is to schedule a weekly Operations Agent task that calls List Inputs to count new labeled examples since the last training run, then calls Train Model if the count crosses your threshold (commonly 50–100 new labels). The resulting model version ID is logged to a Google Sheets tracking sheet and posted to Slack so the team is informed without checking Clarifai manually.
How do triggers work with Clarifai — does the agent react to new predictions in real time?
Clarifai does not expose outbound webhooks for prediction events, so there are no native event triggers available. Actionist uses scheduled agent tasks to poll for new inputs, run predictions, and evaluate results on a recurring cadence — typically between every few minutes and once daily depending on your workflow. For workflows that need low latency (e.g. processing a ticket screenshot the moment it arrives), you can chain a trigger from another app (like Zendesk or Gmail) into a Clarifai prediction action within the same scheduled agent task.
How does Actionist handle large batches of images or video frames?
Clarifai's API accepts multiple inputs per request, so the agent can submit a batch of image URLs in a single Add Inputs or Predict Image Concepts call rather than one image at a time. For video, Predict Video Frames samples frames at a configurable interval (one per second is a common default) and returns per-frame predictions in a single API response. For very large batches — thousands of images — it is best to split the batch into pages and run them over consecutive scheduled agent task cycles to stay within API rate limits.
Can I use Clarifai's visual search through Actionist to power a product recommendation feature?
Yes. The Generate Image Embedding action produces a vector representation of an image, and Search Inputs queries the Clarifai application's input library by embedding similarity. The typical pattern is to run Generate Image Embedding on all catalog images on a weekly schedule and Search Inputs when a query image arrives — for example, a customer uploads a photo and the agent returns the five most visually similar products from the catalog. The results can be posted to Slack, written to HubSpot, or returned via a webhook to your frontend application.
Does Actionist support Clarifai's multi-application architecture?
Yes. Clarifai organises resources (models, inputs, workflows) into applications, and each Clarifai API call includes the app ID and user ID as path parameters. In Actionist, you specify the target app ID in the action configuration, so a single Clarifai connection can target multiple apps — for example, a production app for live predictions and a sandbox app for training data uploads. You can configure different agents to work against different Clarifai apps without needing separate PAT credentials.
