Schedule, publish, and automate social media content across nine platforms

MarketingSocialProductivityAISchedulingAutomation

Blotato is a social media automation platform that combines publishing, scheduling, AI content generation, and analytics in one API-first system. It supports nine platforms — TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook Pages, Instagram, X, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, and Pinterest — and provides a REST API plus official and Make.com nodes. Connect it to Actionist and your agents can publish and schedule posts, upload media, generate AI images and faceless videos, repurpose existing content into platform-native variants, retrieve post analytics, and manage the content queue — all without anyone visiting the Blotato dashboard.

Article published, social posts scheduled across all channels

When an article is published in Notion, the agent submits it to Blotato as a content source, waits for processing, generates platform-native variants for four channels, and schedules them across the coming week — then confirms the schedule in Slack. A single publication event populates the entire social calendar with no copywriter involvement.

FAQs

Questions about Blotato + Actionist

How does Actionist connect to Blotato?
Go to the Apps tab, find Blotato, and click Connect. Paste your Blotato API key into the credential field. To get the key, open Blotato, go to Settings > API, and click Copy API Key. Note: generating an API key ends any active free trial and activates your paid Starter plan — so only do this when you are ready to subscribe. Actionist runs a test call on connect to confirm the credential is valid before any actions run.
Can Actionist agents schedule posts in advance through Blotato?
Yes. Blotato's API lets you set a scheduledTime on any post, or pass useNextFreeSlot so Blotato picks the next open slot in your content calendar for each platform. Actionist agents can build the content, determine the timing based on your rules, and hand it to Blotato — the scheduled post is queued without anyone visiting the Blotato dashboard.
Which social media platforms does Blotato publish to?
Blotato supports TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook Pages, Instagram, X (Twitter), YouTube, Threads, Bluesky, and Pinterest. Through the Actionist + Blotato integration, your agents can publish or schedule the same piece of content to multiple platforms in a single agent task — generating format variants per platform and queuing them all with one call.
How does media upload work when posting through Blotato via Actionist?
Blotato's API supports uploading media by URL — pass any publicly accessible media URL and Blotato processes and stores it, returning a media URL you attach to the post. You can pass multiple media URLs for multi-image posts, carousels, or video posts. File size must be under 1 GB. The Actionist agent handles preparing the URL (from Google Drive, Dropbox, a CDN, or anywhere public) before calling the upload step.
Can Actionist generate AI videos in Blotato and then post them automatically?
Yes — Blotato's Create Video endpoint lets agents kick off AI-generated faceless video creation (voiceover, captions, visual template) and poll for completion with Find Video. Once the video URL is ready, the agent can immediately pass it to Publish Post to schedule or publish on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels — fully hands-free.
Can I pull social media analytics back from Blotato into my other tools?
After publishing, use Get Post Analytics to retrieve engagement metrics and snapshot history for any published post. Actionist agents can poll this endpoint on a schedule — daily or weekly — and write the results to Google Sheets or Notion for a unified content performance dashboard across all platforms without logging into each network.
Are there rate limits I need to know about when publishing through the Blotato API?
The rate limit for Publish Post is 30 requests per minute per user; for media upload it is 10 requests per minute. For typical content calendars (even high-volume ones at 50+ posts per week), these limits are more than sufficient. If you are running bulk publishing — for example pushing a week's content in one batch — Actionist agents space calls automatically to stay within rate limits.
Does Blotato have an MCP server I can use with Actionist?
Blotato also exposes an MCP server, which lets Claude-based agents in Actionist call Blotato tools directly without constructing raw HTTP requests. If you prefer that path, connect via the MCP option in the Apps tab — it uses your API key under the hood but the agent interface is more natural for conversational publishing workflows. Both connection methods access the same underlying Blotato capabilities.
