How does Actionist connect to Blooio Messaging?
Go to the Apps tab, find Blooio Messaging, and click Connect. Select the API key method. In your Blooio dashboard, navigate to Settings and generate an API key. Paste that key into Actionist and click Test Connection — Actionist runs a quick account lookup to confirm the handshake. Once connected, your agents can send iMessages, RCS, and SMS and receive inbound messages through webhook events.
Does it send iMessage or SMS — and what happens if the recipient isn't on iMessage?
Blooio sends messages as iMessage on Apple devices, downgrades automatically to RCS on supported Android devices, and falls back to SMS for any number that supports neither. The platform selects the best available channel for each recipient with each send — you don't need to manage fallback logic in your agent. The Check Capabilities action lets you query which channels a specific number or email supports before sending.
Can agents receive replies and inbound messages from Blooio?
Yes. Blooio supports inbound messages via webhooks. When a recipient replies, Blooio delivers the message payload to your registered webhook endpoint. In Actionist, configure the Incoming Message trigger to listen for those inbound events, and your agent can parse the reply and take follow-up actions — logging to a CRM, routing to a support queue, or sending another message.
What iMessage-specific features are available through the API?
Blooio supports typing indicators, tapback reactions, polls, contact card shares, attachment sending, group chats with named members, FaceTime call initiation links, read receipts, and delivery status tracking. These are native iMessage features exposed through the API. When building agent scripts in Actionist, you can start a typing indicator before sending a message to simulate natural human cadence, which improves open rates for outbound sequences.
How does contact management work in Blooio?
The Contact module in Blooio stores phone numbers and emails with names, tags, and a record of messaging capabilities (iMessage-capable, RCS-capable, SMS-only). Actionist agents can create contacts when new records arrive from your CRM, update tags based on engagement, and use the Check Capabilities action to pre-screen numbers before a campaign so you know exactly which channel each person will receive messages on.
Does Actionist need a specific phone number to send iMessages, or does it use an existing number?
Blooio numbers are phone numbers registered for iMessage, RCS, and SMS — not email or app-based accounts. You need a dedicated Blooio number (or pool of numbers for volume) with the account that holds your API key. The number is associated with your Blooio subscription. Actionist uses your API key to send through those numbers; you cannot supply arbitrary phone numbers outside your Blooio account.
How quickly do inbound message triggers fire, and what happens if a webhook is missed?
Webhook delivery in Blooio fires within about a minute of an inbound message or delivery event. For high-volume scenarios, Blooio provides webhook logs and a replay mechanism — Actionist agents can use the List Webhook Logs action to audit recent events and trigger a Replay Event action to reprocess any missed delivery. This gives you durable, auditable inbound event handling without building your own retry queue.
Can agents create and manage iMessage group chats through Blooio?
Blooio provides a Group module for iMessage group chats. Actionist agents can create a group, add members by phone number or email, set a group name, and send messages into the group thread — all via the same API. This is useful for team notifications, deal room coordination, or coordinating onboarding cohorts. Group management (adding/removing members, updating the name) is also available as agent actions.
